"Never Gonna Fall in Love Once again" is a song co-written and recorded by American pop rock artist Eric Carmen. It was released as the second single from Carmen's cocky-titled debut solo anthology, the song peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in June 1976, remaining in the Top 40 for x weeks.[1] The song reached number one on the Billboard Piece of cake Listening chart. In Canada, it was a number-one hitting on both charts.[2] [3]
The melody of "Never Gonna Autumn in Love Once more" is based on the 3rd movement (Adagio) from Symphony No. 2 past Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
On his second solo LP, Boats Against the Current, Carmen had a subsequent Top 40 hit entitled "She Did It", a happy reply to the loneliness and lovelessness described in this vocal and its equally melancholy predecessor, "All By Myself".

Carmen performed "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and his prior hitting, "All By Myself" on The Midnight Special television program on July 23, 1976 (season 4, episode 37). The prove was hosted by The Spinners.[4]

Australian singer songwriter Mark Holden recorded and released a version April 1976 every bit his debut single. The vocal was a commercial success, peaking at number 13 on the Kent Music Written report.[12] [13]
Background and release [edit]
Marking Holden released his debut studio album Dawn in Darkness in 1975. Consisting entirely of original songs, the album was a commercial failure, selling approximately 2,000 copies[14] In Apr 1976 Holden received a call from Colin Petersen, EMI Music Australia's A&R, who suggested he cover "Never Gonna Autumn in Love Again". In his 2017 autobiography, Holden said recording it "was a chance for me to accept a hit". Holden promoted the vocal past performing the track on Countdown, where he performed the track while handing out red carnations to the audience. Information technology became an infamous performance which led to Holden'south nickname of "The Carnation Child"[15]

Unlike "All by Myself," Carmen's version of "Never Gonna Autumn in Love Over again" was not released in Commonwealth of australia and therefore did not chart. Nonetheless, Dana reached #31 in the UK in 1976 with the song.[16] Her British release charted concurrently with Carmen's and Holden's versions.
Other versions [edit]
- Frank Sinatra performed the song many times in concert in the late 1970s, nigh notably during the 1976 MDA Telethon. Fond of Eric Carmen'due south songs, he had arrangements made of both this song and "All By Myself." He never recorded either song.
- Tony Burrows covered the vocal in 1976 with the studio group Magic.
- Spanish singer Miguel Bosé also covered information technology (in English language) in his debut LP Linda in 1977.
- John Travolta covered the vocal in 1978.
- Tommy Page covered the song on his 1991 album From the Heart.
